MOST FREQUENT QUESTION

When can I sign up?

Any time. Since we are a year-round, perpetual program, we can take new students at any time throughout the year and any time during the month.

What if I join in the middle of a month?

You will pay the pro-rated amount for the month in which you are starting as well as the amount due for the next full month by credit card. You will then go onto the automatic billing system for all future months.

How long will it take for my child to learn to swim?

Every child is different and, therefore learns at a different pace. That is why we offer perpetual classes rather than sessions with a fixed start and end date to a class. This is one of those things you can’t put a time-line on.

How long are your lessons?

All of our lessons are 30 minutes long. Small group classes (max 3 or 4 children at our beginner levels) ensure that your child receives the attention that they deserve.

Why is there a minimum of 8 lessons?

We have an eight lesson minimum because we do not feel that it is fair to your child to “try” swim lessons. Eight lessons are a total of 4 hours. We believe this is the absolute minimum amount of time needed for a child to adjust to the class structure and begin the learning process.

What if they cry, should I persist?

It is very common for the little ones to cry at first. It sometimes takes them a few visits to adapt to the environment, the water and the instructor. You don’t want to pull them out of swimming lessons because they cry. This is a lifesaving skill they are learning and it’s critical to let our instructors work with them a few times. It’s actually much more difficult on the parent than the child. We take a gentle approach with beginners and they will adapt sooner than you may think.

Why do you offer perpetual swim lessons instead of sessions?

Learning to swim is a process, not an event. It is an ongoing, year round learning experience.

How long does my child attend lessons?

Our classes are “perpetual” which means that they continue indefinitely until you fill out a withdrawal form indicating that you wish to take a break. A minimal 30-day advance notice is required to remove you or your child from future class charges.

How do I withdraw from my class?

You must give us 30 days written notice of withdrawal before the next billing cycle by filling up the “Cancellation / Drop Form”

If the last day of class chosen is less than 30 days from the date of the submission of the “Cancellation / Drop form” you agree that you will be charged immediately upon receipt of the cancelation form the prorate amount for the number of classes to complete the 30 Days Cancellation Policy

This is not a termination fee.

How do I change my day or time?

You can change days or times at any time providing space is available. Please keep in mind if you change a class day or time, your previous time slot may be filled if you later wish to go back to it. You can call or stop by our office and someone will be happy to provide you with your options.

Schedule of our classes?

Some people ask us to receive our class’ schedule but, because we might need to make adjustments and sometimes changes to accommodate our students as they progress to new levels and as we register new students, our schedule is only available one week in advance. Call us for availability. Give us the days and times that work for you and our staff will do their best to find a day and time that will meet your needs.

Why twice a week?

Studies have determined that a child will learn 3 times faster by attending twice a week rather than just once. Twice a week classes are also a better value for the number of total classes taken. If your child would like to swim more than twice a week, please ask our office personnel and we will do our best to accommodate your request and inform you about price options.

When will my child be “water safe”?

Our goal is to first teach a new swimmer how to float independently on their back. Once they are able to float on their own for a short period of time, we will then and only then begin teaching them the basic strokes of how to actually swim. The ability to float on their back makes a tremendous difference when it comes to survival. Back floating allows the student to continue to breathe without a struggle which provide them much more time. Just a few seconds are often the difference between life and death.

When can I make up a class?

AS COURTESY each student may have 1 make-up per calendar month if there are available spots in classes.

Make-up lessons may happen at any time during the regular Aquamotion Swim School schedule where space is available.

We DO NOT GUARANTEE the make-up lesson.

To qualify for a make-up, you must:

  • Notify us via email at swim@aquamotionus.com at least 12 hours prior to the class that your child will miss, with the reason for the absence, date and time of the class he/she will be absent.
  • Also, provide on your email the date and time that you would like to book the make-up class, as well as your child level. Please note that make-ups can only be booked 7 days out and must be used no later than the last day of the following month. For private and semi-private classes, make-ups can only be scheduled into regular group classes.
  • Remember that only current members have the opportunity of make-up for missed classes, meaning that make-ups cannot be rolled over if the student dropped from school, neither can be applied as credit or transferred to another student.
  • A scheduled make-up class will be offered for pool closures due to pool machinery malfunction or Severe Weather Warning requiring the closure of schools by government agencies.
  • Please note that we cannot guarantee a specific instructor for make-up classes. Don’t miss your scheduled make-up, as you won’t be able to make-up for a make-up.

What about teacher requests?

Some of our students and many of our parents have become fond of particular teachers. We love our teachers and we will continue to make decisions regarding where teachers are placed based on our effort to provide the best swimming experience possible for everyone. We are well aware that different students respond to different teaching personalities and we always try to respond to these requests.  We will never guarantee a teacher and we will always reserve the right to change teachers if other considerations require it.
